In-depth familiarity with nursing ethics was necessary to formulate a viable intervention

strategy. Patient participation in care planning is the foundation of ethical medical practice.

According to the principle of autonomy in ethics, the client must get respect as an independent

being (Gómez-Vírseda et al., 2020). The second purpose of nursing ethics was to help build

rapport between the patient, the nurse, or other healthcare providers. The team did this in

compliance with the moral principle of honesty, which mandates that nurses be forthright in their

dealings with patients and other healthcare providers. In the healthcare program, I saw it as my

duty to listen to the family members, try to understand their perspectives, and address their

concerns honestly and openly. Thus, nursing ethics ensured that the team made all medical

decisions with the patient's needs in mind. The team developed the proposed intervention in light

of established government regulations and state board nursing practice guidelines. By law, nurses

in California must follow a code of ethics that includes protecting their patients' health and

verifying their medical colleagues' credentials. For instance, as Edemekong et al. (2021) point

out, the intervention was shaped by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act

(HIPAA), which stresses the importance of safeguarding patient health information by healthcare
